What Is VoIP?

Can I dial 911 with VoIP?
VoIP certainly allows calls to 911, it it uses E-911, an enhanced 911 service and required for all customers. When you call 911, all of your information is given to the nearest Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP). Enhanced-911 is ideal because all of your information including service address is sent.
Am I able to keep my phone number?

What equipment is needed for VoIP?
